What is Margilan Silk?

Margilan Silk is from Margilan, a small town in Uzbekistan. The technique used has been passed down for thousands of years. The fabric is made from the fibers of silkworm cocoons fed on Mulberry leaves. The delicate filaments are unspooled then formed into yarns or gossamer fabrics that can be dyed. It is the silk of choice for Nuno Felting.
